CAMBRIDGE RE:THINK ESSAY COMPETITION 2024

2024.04-2024.05

Essay Competition 2024 is here to catch the attention of high school students so as to test their writing and critical thinking capabilities. Among the most popular ones would be that which is offered by the University of Cambridge, inviting young minds to discuss some of the pressing global issues and come up with creative answers. Participants are free to choose any topic they would wish to respond to from a wide array of such thought-provoking issues, including climate change, social justice, technology, education, and others. It motivates students to think deeply, research widely, and produce an essay that expresses findings in imaginative and original ways with arguments being well-structured and powerfully expressed. Several prizes await the winners of this competition, among which include scholarships, the possibility of publication, and other special events at Cambridge.

During this competition, students not only get to enhance their writing and critical thinking skills but also have a chance to express their views on current issues. Through this process, students become part of the global community of young thinkers and intellectual contributors. The Cambridge Re:Think Essay Competition 2024 presents outstanding opportunities for high school students to engage in issues that impact the real world while sharpening argumentation skills and showcasing intellectual efforts through one of the world's leading universities. Whether one is interested in solving environmental problems or looking to delve into the future of technology, this competition presents a unique opportunity to make a mark and be part of meaningful discussions.

I chose the topic of "Is AI-driven data mining serving us better or is it overriding our privacy?" After a blind review, I received an email stating that I was chosen for an honorable mention. The Honorable Mention award is given to around 10% of the total participants who are shortlisted and receive an invitation to the Award Ceremony and Dinner at the University of Cambridge. Unfortunately, I won't be able to join the dinner because of my schedule. Nevertheless, I am proud of what I have achieved and aim higher next time in another competition.
